Project Overview

In 2024, Sofix shut down a specialty chemical plant in Tennessee for economic reasons and needed a practical path to recover value from the facility’s process equipment.

Phoenix Equipment purchased the equipment outright, covered the removal costs, and managed the complete disposition process. The approximately $1.5 million project included dismantlement, rigging, loading, transportation, storage, and resale of the acquired assets.

Equipment sold during the project was shipped to buyers, while additional marketable assets were moved to Phoenix storage for continued remarketing.

Specialty Chemical Equipment Recovery

The plant contained a broad range of specialty chemical processing and utility equipment.

Major equipment included:

  • Stainless steel reactors
  • Stainless steel mixing vessels
  • Stainless steel pressure vessels
  • Rosenmund stainless steel Nutsche filters
  • 50-inch Krauss Maffei siphon peeler centrifuge
  • 304L stainless steel Nauta mixer/dryers
  • 300 HP Cleaver-Brooks firetube steam boiler
  • 16,000 SCFH PSA nitrogen generator
  • Kaeser compressors
  • Additional specialty chemical process equipment

Phoenix dismantled, rigged, loaded, and transported the equipment as part of the acquisition.

Removal, Storage & Continued Remarketing

Phoenix removed the equipment from the Sofix site and assumed responsibility for assets that had not yet sold. Marketable equipment was stored for continued resale, allowing Sofix to complete its equipment disposition without waiting for the secondary-market sales process to conclude.

Project Highlights

Recovering Value From a Closed Specialty Chemical Plant

Phoenix gave Sofix a direct path to recover cash from the closed facility while transferring the cost and responsibility for equipment removal, storage, and resale to Phoenix. The result was a cleaner exit from the idled assets without requiring Sofix to manage the secondary-market sales process itself.
