Stock # 557
Capacity 17000 lbs/hr

Unused 17000 lbs/hour (7748 kg/h) freeze concentration plant. Designed and engineered by GEA Messo PT. Freeze concentration is one of the methods for liquid food concentration. This GEA plant is designed as four identical freeze concentration units to process the supplied amount of liquid beverage solution by using crystallizers. By means of crystallization the extracted beverage solution of 6.5 – 7.5 wt% will be concentrated 4-5 fold by removing pure water. The concentrated beverage flow of 34 wt% will be used as a feed for the drying stage. A total of 17000 lbs/hr (7748 kg/hr), Each line produces 4250 lbs/hr (427 kg/hr) of concentrated liquid solution and 3330 lbs/hr (1510 kg/hr) of pure water. Concentration process consists of three main parts: 1. Crystallization part: the system has (4) identical lines, and each line has (2) crystallization stages with a 3000 gallon Stainless Steel Double Wall crystallizer on each stage. The crystal production is obtained by introducing a cooling liquid (dynaline) via the jacket on the crystallizer wall. 2. Separation part: The ice crystals produced in the crystallizers need to be separated from the beverage liquid in the wash column. The slurry is separated in the wash column in a pure water stream and a liquid stream. The pure water stream leaves the plant and the liquid stream is returned to crystallizer. Part of this liquid stream is used as a feed for the first stage crystallizer, to compensate for the ice production to the second stage and the final production of concentrated beverage liquid. 3. Final product: From crystallizer, a slurry flow is circulated over the production vessel via product slurry pump. The production vessel contains a filter, what provides the discharge of a concentrated, ice free, beverage stream. Via product output pump PU65457 this high concentrate beverage flow is discharged from the freeze concentration plant for further processing. This GEA plant can be used in the pharmaceutical and food and beverage applications such as Fruit & vegetable juices, Coffee & tea extracts, Herbal extracts, Beer, Wine, Cider and Vinegar

Freeze Concentration Plant - 1100 lbs/hr
Freeze Concentration Plant - 1100 lbs/hr
Stock # 585
Capacity 1100 lbs/hr

Used 1100 lbs/hr freeze concentration system. Manufactured by GEA MESSO. The unit is a two-stage crystallization system with a capacity of processing coffee concentrate at 34 wt%, built for high-efficiency freeze concentration. Consiting of (2) 3,330 liters (872 gallon) stainless steel jacketed crystallizers. Internal rated 43.5 psig @-13/+203F. Jacked rated 43.5 psig @-13/+203 F. Double-jacketed vessels to enable precise cooling using a Dynalene® HC30 cooling liquid, maintaining temperatures as low as -30°C. (1) 666 mm dia Wash column manufactured by SRO-Netherland. The system utilizes a wash column to separate ice crystals from the concentrated product, with an integrated piston-driven filtration system. Rated 1450 psi @-4/+140F. System includes (1) gallon stainless steel feed tank. Rated 6 psi @-13F/203F, Equipped with a R507A compressor for refrigeration and a Siemens PLC-controlled system. The feed (coffee solution of 6.5 - 7.5 wt%) will be supplied to feed tank TK68400. The feed has a temperature of 4 C. From there the feed is supplied to the crystallizer EX68200 (second stage). In both crystallizers an amount of ice crystals is produced. The crystals are suspended in the remaining liquid (coffee). The ice percentage in the crystallizers is around 30 %. The ice crystal production in crystallizer (first stage) is supplied to crystallizer EX68200 via ice transfer pump 68124. The ice is supplied as a slurry of 30% solids (ice crystals) and 70 % liquid (concentrated coffee). The ice crystals produced in crystallizer EX68200, together with the crystal production from the first stage is supplied to wash column ME68300. The wash column semi continuously withdraws an amount of slurry from crystallizer EX68200. The slurry is separated in the wash column in a pure water stream and a liquid stream. The pure water stream leaves the plant and the liquid stream is returned to crystallizer EX68200. Part of this liquid stream is used as a feed for the first stage crystallizer EX68100, to compensate for the ice production to the second stage and the final production of concentrated coffee. The latter stream is produced via production vessel PV68450. From crystallizer EX68100, a slurry flow is circulated over the production vessel via product slurry pump 68451. The production vessel contains a filter, what provides the discharge of a concentrated, ice free, coffee stream. Via product pump PU68457 this high concentrate coffee flow is discharged from the freeze concentration plant for further processing. This GEA plant can be used in the pharmaceutical and food and beverage applications such as Fruit & vegetable juices, Coffee & tea extracts, Herbal extracts, Beer, Wine, Cider and Vinegar.
