T/L to T/L plus 8 ft. skirt, with a diameter of 4’ ID, an operating pressure of 720 psig, a maximum operating pressure of 800 psig (ASME nameplate). Max capacity of tallow pump is 14,500 lb/hr, max capacity of water pump is 10,000 lb/hr. Splitters material of construction is 317L Stainless Steel, and a capacity of 11,500 lb/hr of crude fatty acid. (2) Fatty Acid Distillation Major equipment: Distillation Stills A & B: Includes an 800 lb. steam vaporizer with a 736 sq ft heating surface area, and 800 psig high-pressure steam. The vacuum system has an internal condensing design: 3 steam jet in series (with 150 lb motive steam) with intermediate condensers. The typical operating vacuum at the top and bottom @ normal rates is 10 mm Hg top vacuum and 19.5 mm Hg bottom vacuum. Trays and rasher rings packing, with a top condensing section of ceramic rings. The Still dimensions are 7’ dia. bottom X 2’-6” straight side x 3/8” thick to 5’-6” dia. & 30’ x ¼” thick. The 5’-6” dia. section is solid 316L SS. 316L SS Clad plate through 7’ dia. Still capacity is 11,000 lb/hr finished Fatty Acid. Distillation Still C: Includes an 800 lb. steam vaporizer with a 953 sq ft heating surface area, and 800 psig high-pressure steam. 3 packed sections of Koch-Glitsch structured packing. All internal condensers. Top – Bed #1 is 6’-11” deep with Koch Glitsch Flexipac type 2Y. Middle - Bed # 2 is 8’-7 ¾” deep with same packing. Lower - Bed #3 is 4’-3 ?” deep - same material. All beds are 7’ dia. The Still dimensions are 9’-6” bottom diameter by 3’-6” high for vaporizer inlet. Reducing immediately to 7’ for balance of height. 58’-7” T/L to T/L. Sits on a 23’ high skirt. 3/8” thick shell in 317L Stainless Steel. Still capacity is 19,000 lb/hr finished Fatty Acid. Fractionator This Fractionator has (36) 317L valve trays with 24”/18” spacing, dimensions of 90’ height x 3.5’ diameter, 20 mm Hg absolute, 220 C at bottom vaporizer operating conditions, 800 psig maximum possible steam pressure for heating. The typical feed is whole coconut, pko, or fractions @ 6000 lbs/hr; products are C8 (99%) and C8C10. (3) Glycerin Evaporation Major equipment: Concentrator This unit is a double effect, falling film evaporator known as a concentrator. It receives the sweetwater off the splitters utilizing the flash steam from the sweetwater flashdrum to concentrate the sweetwater from 12% plus or minus to 20% plus or minus. Cleaning is required every 2 to 3 years. Finisher The 4th effect surface area is 304 sq ft with a steam operating pressure of 25 psig and a maximum steap operating pressure of 30 psig. Typical glycerin concentration of finished product is 88 – 90%, and a typical final temperature of full crude is 60 to 80 C. (4) Glycerin Distillation Major equipment: The heating surface area is 401 sq ft, with a forced recirculation design. The pressure of the heating steam is a normal operation pressure of 180 to 200 psig, and a maximum of 275 psig. Internal condensing; 5’-6” dia by 13 ft high of 2” Glitsch ballast rings packing (T-304 SS). Utilizes Cooling tower water @ 20 C in and 30 C out. (5) Fatty Acid Neturalization Major equipment: The capacity of each neutralization plant is four (4) processing trains of 25,000 lb/hr @ 32% moisture of neat soap. The maximum soap pellet capacity of each drying plant is four (4) vacuum spray dryers @ 5 metric ton/hr output, and one (1) vacuum spray dryer @ 3 metric ton/hr output.
