Simple in design, the conical mill or comill (comil) operates by an impeller creating a vortex within a conical screen or seive. The Particulate is forced out and into the screen where the material is milled through by the spinning impeller. The, now uniformly sized, particulate leaves the Comil below the seive. Found from the lab to the production floor; the scaleability of the comill depends on the amount of milled product needed in the time alotted. Industries where comills are found are numerous - but they are more commonly found in Pharma, API, Nutra, Food, Chemical, Biotechnology and Cosmetics. Uses range from particle size distribution, wet and dry granulation sizing to deagglomeration, delumping, and dry blending.
