Nitrogen Rejection Units for Sale

Used 45 MM SCFD x 2 Nitrogen Rejection Units (NRU) built in 1983. The NRUs are designed to produce the follow products from natural gas containing 80% nitrogen: (a) Ethane-rich gas, suitable for de-methanation; (b) Methane-rich gas, to be used as fuel or sales gas; (c) A waste nitrogen stream, vented to atmosphere or used for rejection. The NRU uses methane (C1) as a refrigerant. There are 5 streams in the process: 1) Low pressure C1; 2) High pressure C1; 3) C2+ stream; 4) Feed gas; 5) Vent stream. The gas product is pressured at 650 psig.

Used 120 MM SCFD x 3 Nitrogen Rejection Units built in 1988. These Nitrogen Rejection Units (NRU) are used to process raw natural gas or methane-rich gas from mining. It consists of three parallel trains to remove nitrogen from natural gas feedstock which has nitrogen composition varying from 2% to 80%. Each train has a compression column to reduce the temperature of the feed gas to a point where methane is liquefied and nitrogen is still of gas phase. A series of heat exchangers are used for distillation. The plant is capable of producing several combinations of product stream as follows: (a). Nitrogen, methane-rich sales gas, and natural gas liquids. Ethane may be recovered in the sales gas or in the liquid product. (b). Methane-rich sales gas and natural gas liquids from low percentage nitrogen feeds. Ethane may be recovered in the sales gas or in the liquid product. (c). Nitrogen and methane-rich sales gas. Natural gas liquids removal is performed to the extent necessary to meet a maximum dew point specification for the sales gas.

1.5 MMSCFD Nitrogen Rejection Unit – NRU – using PSA, pressure swing adsorption technology, built in 2018. The system can be used to process raw natural gas or methane-rich gas landfill gas with 3 or 4 adsorption beds depending on N2 concentration and outlet gas requirements. Currently, the process steps combine to produce a sales gas compressed to 270 psig that has less than 5 vol % N2. The overall methane recovery can be up to 95% by volume depending on the initial concentration of N2 and the owner could customize the unit for helium recovery.
