Used 2,400 BPD MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) Plant built in 1992. The plant has capacity of producing 2,400 BPD of MTBE (or 3360 BPD, if include other hydrocarbons), equivalent to 100,000 TPY. The MTBE train uses C4 fraction from a petroleum refinery and methanol as raw materials. MTBE is produced by the catalytic etherification of isobutylene with methanol. Core process equipment is boiling point fixed bed reactor followed by final conversion in a catalytic distillation column. The process uses an acidic ion exchange resin catalyst in fixed bed reactor and catalytic distillation structure.
