What is a Double Cone Vacuum Dryer?
A double cone vacuum dryer or a double cone rotating vacuum dryer is an indirect dryer that possesses a simple inner structure and are easy-to-clean. The main part consists of a tumbler with a jacket. Generally, these dryers are constructed with glass-lined steel since the glass lining is non-stick and non-corrosive.
Raw material is fed into a horizontal tumbler (30% - 50% of the total capacity) then agitated repeatedly by rotation to dry. Steam, hot water or heat transfer oil can be used as the primary heat source.
Because of its rotating feature and design, material cannot gather on any particular surface within the vessel. This means the raw material is dried uniformly at a low temperature and is easy to disperse.
The design also ensures the discharge of all material remains in the vessel—an especially critical component when it comes to hazardous materials. These dryers are easy to operate and designed to fit into most industrial settings, though tend to require a larger footprint.
