Citric Acid's primary consumer is the food and drinks industry, particularly the soft drinks sector where it is used as an acidulant. It has other applications in detergents, cleaning products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Industrial uses include metal surface treatment, secondary oil recovery, and as an antioxidant in lube oil preparations. Citric Acid is also employed as a chelating agent in agriculture and its solutions are used for the cleaning and desedimentation of furnace walls in coal power stations.
