The manufacturing site was built in 1988 to produce an injectable hormone (porcine somatotropin) used to improve feed efficiency and improve carcass quality in hogs. In 2002, the plant underwent a multi-million dollar upgrade. The plant is located on nine acres in an industrial area near a Wabash River in Terre Haute, Indiana . The property is zoned for heavy industry. Adjacent neighbors are a waste treatment plant and an electrical substation. A steel frame concrete building contains 40,500 square feet of space under the roof. With the second floor and mezzanine levels, the total floor area is 67,000 square feet. The highest roof level is 50 feet. An 8,000 lb. capacity freight elevator serves the second floor level. Documentation for the facility has been maintained in a complete state. Original drawings, modifications, equipment files, wiring diagrams, and validation files are maintained and accessible.
