Buying and Selling Unused, Used and Reconditioned Boiler Feed Pumps

A feed pump supplies feed water to the boiler as and when required. A boiler feed pump is selected according to the quantity and the amount of pressure required by the boiler. The feed pump raises the pressure of the feed water to a level high enough for the water to enter the boiler.  A boiler feed pump ensures continuous supply of feed water to the boiler, preventing overheating and damage to the boiler. The boiler feed pump is an essential part of the boiler feed system.

Feed-water pumps range in size in horsepower and the electric motor is usually separated from the pump body by some form of mechanical coupling. Large industrial condensate pumps may also serve as the feed-water pump. In either case, to force the water into the boiler, the pump must generate sufficient pressure to overcome the steam pressure developed by the boiler. This is usually accomplished through the use of a centrifugal pump. The feed pump raises the feed-water to a pressure high enough for it to enter the boiler. For auxiliary boilers, where small amounts of feed-water are pumped, a steam-driven reciprocating positive displacement pump may be used. Another type of feed pump often used on package boiler installations is known as an 'electro feeder'. This is a multi-stage centrifugal pump driven by a constant speed electric motor. The number of stages is determined by the feed quantity and discharge pressure. Multistage High Pressure types of pumps are designed for total head beyond the range of the boiler by an increase in the number of stages.
